Facebook adds more SBO-friendly tools

Facebook announced upgrades this week for Pages, the company’s platform that lets businesses create a specialized page (a mini-business directory) to promote their services. The changes will allow more customization of messages. Facebook is also putting a more prominent “call-to-action” button on mobile.

Madison CCE offers farmers tax management help

An attorney, a tax preparer, and Madison County Cornell Cooperative Extension educators will offer farmers tips on adjustments they can make now to save money on their 2015 taxes.The training is Sept. 18, 9 am to noon.

Production costs, stress for farmers growing

Last week the National Farmers Union urged encouraged the U.S. Department of Agriculture to prepare for increased economic instability and financial stress for American family farmers and ranchers as production costs are soaring. The NFU asked that USDA not only to use the USDA-Certified Agricultural Mediation Program but also to expand the agricultural issues that are eligible for its services.

$50M to be spent for state fairgrounds upgrades

Gov. Cuomo detailed plans recently for upgrades to the state fair grounds designed to make the venue more attractive, increasing business in the area and region year-round. Fifty million dollars was set aside in the last budget for the renovations.

Drive to see agriculture, energy, enterprise

A self-drive “Agriculture, Energy, and Enterprise Tour”  will be held on from 9am to 3pm on Sept. 18 at various locations in the Oneida County area.  Cornell Cooperative Extension Oneida County has details on its website.

McCadam Cheese takes  dairy honors

McCadam Cheese Company’s aged cheddar won its category at the 2015 state fair. The Chateaugay company also earned the  Grand Champion award in the dairy products competition. A list of winners in all 21 dairy products categories is available in PDF format.
